The French have have that innate knack for incorporating that "something old" with "something new" to bring their unique style to their abodes. Most apartments that I have visited have beautiful antiques, most are family heirlooms past down from generation to generation, paired with an IKEA coffee table and a modern piece of art, with each piece complementing the other. The first rule of French design is "there are no rules."

ANANBÔ: Chic, timeless panoramic views all put to paper for you to add whimsical views to your walls. Choose from a large assortment of styles: French countryside, exotic beaches, to majestic trees. Ananbô's wallpapers are hand-painted then digitized. The mural you receive is a digital print on non-woven paper with an ultra-matte finish. Local info: 18 rue des Saints-Pères, 75007 Paris www.ananbo.com
BHV/MARAIS: Originally this multi-leveled department store was considered a hardware store that also had other home decor merchandise. Well.....let me tell you -this is nothing like hitting up your local Ace Hardware store or Home Depot. I love to wander around the lower level where the Bric, the DIY department, that is all things fun for house projects. Local info: 52 rue de Rivoli, 75004, Paris www.bhv.fr

MARCHÉ aux PUCES de SAINT OUEN: This brocante, fleamarket, is located just on the outskirts of Paris in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine. It is the largest 2nd hand market of its kind in the world, so wear your walking shoes and be prepared to bargain with the vendors. It is broken down into 14+ markets, which helps to guide you in a particular direction. You can find just about anything here from Mid-Century modern furniture to Knights armor. My favorite vendor is Paul Maurel (Marché Vernaison, Stand 41, allée 1), it here that I have found beautiful Art Deco pochoirs, vintage print ads, antique maps, and more. Local info: 110 Rue de Rosiers, Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, 93400 www.pucesdeparissaintouen.com

MARCHÉ PUCES de VANVES: This brocante is held every Saturday in the 14th arrondissement near the Porte de Vanves. This market is full of wonderful finds that are rather easy to bring home with you. You can find gilded framed mirrors, silver flatware, antique frames, crystal vases, ceramics, baskets, and other knick-knacks to remember your Parisian visit by. Be prepared to bargain with the sellers, that in itself is worth the trip.

RÊVE BLANC: Around the corner from the famed Rue Cler (a foodies heaven on earth!) is a wonderful linen shop where you can find beautiful linens for just about every room in your home. Their selection of duvet covers and shams are the BEST! My favorite little gift to bring home for friends and family are the exquisite Le Jacquard Français tea towels; they come in a rainbow of colors and designs, and the best part is they take up virtually no room in your luggage allowing you to buy every color under the sun.
